After releasing a mixtape using collage in 1999, he released his solo album "psycho soul over drive" from V2records in 2000.
He expresses his unique instrumental hip-hop with the technique of collage, while using high-profile street and underground MCs such as SUIKEN of Nitro Microphone Underground and MC JOE.
The concept of this first album is "to make you listen to instrumental hip-hop. However, another concept was to create an epic musical flow by using hip-hop to represent movies, manga, and anime set in the near future, drawing inspiration from films such as "Blade Runner," "Future Century Brazil," "Ghost in the Shell," and "AKIRA.
An analog technology that will never return, a digital revolution that is saturating, and a high-tech society that is going against the times and reverting to lost technology. In the wide but closed space of the Internet, people are exposed to useful information and feel comfortable, but what they are getting in this insubstantial space is an afterimage of analog technology or a more sublime digital technology?
This work is a sequel to the first album pulsating with such themes, in other words, it is a work located between the first and second albums.
This time, instead of a mixtape or DJ mix, it is a "tape album" with a total of 18 existing and newly recorded songs processed on a Roland SP404. While influenced by the recent beat tape scene and chill-hop scene, multiple songs from past works are carefully compiled in the very single medium of a cassette tape release. 99年にコラージュを用いたミックステープを発表後、2000年にV2recordsよりソロアルバム「psycho soul over drive」を発表。
Nitro Microphone UndergroundのSUIKENやMC JOEなど、ストリートやアンダーグラウンドで注目を集めるMCを起用しながら、コラージュという手法で彼独自のインストゥルメンタルヒップホップを表現している。
この1stアルバムのコンセプトは「インストゥルメンタル・ヒップホップを聴かせること」である。しかし、もうひとつのコンセプトは、「ブレードランナー」「未来世紀ブラジル」「攻殻機動隊」「AKIRA」などの映画からインスピレーションを得て、近未来を舞台にした映画や漫画、アニメをヒップホップで表現し、壮大な音楽の流れを作り上げることだった。
二度と戻らないアナログ技術、飽和するデジタル革命、時代に逆行しロストテクノロジーに回帰するハイテク社会。インターネットという広くも閉ざされた空間の中で、人々は有用な情報に触れ、心地よさを感じているが、この実体のない空間の中で得ているのは、アナログ技術の残像か、より崇高なデジタル技術か。
本作は、そんなテーマで脈打つ1stアルバムの続編、つまり1stアルバムと2ndアルバムの間に位置する作品である。
今回はミックステープやDJミックスではなく、既存曲と新録曲の計18曲をRoland SP404で加工した「テープアルバム」となっており、近年のビートテープシーンやチルホップシーンに影響を受けつつも、過去の作品から複数の楽曲をカセットテープリリースという極めて単一な媒体で丁寧にコンパイルしている。
作品の時代背景はまさに1stアルバムと2ndアルバムの中間だが、実質的にはKING 3LDKの4枚目のコンセプト・アルバムとなる。
